Composite Fillings

Silver vs. composite fillings

Composite (white) fillings provide a natural look.

By the time you reach adulthood, there’s a fairly good chance that you’ve received at least one filling in a tooth because of tooth decay. Yes? And the same goes for other adults you know – in fact many even have a whole mouth full of silver (amalgam) fillings!

So… unless you’ve had a tooth filled recently, or know someone who has, you might not even know about the composite tooth-colored fillings we’re using today. We can even replace your silver fillings with natural tooth-colored fillings to get rid of all that metal in your mouth!

The Benefits of Composite (Tooth Colored) Fillings

Composite fillings are a more natural alternative to metal amalgam fillings. Since they are bonded to the tooth, they can strengthen a tooth that has been weakened by decay or a failing amalgam filling.

Composite fillings, also known as resin or white fillings, are very comfortable and long lasting. Composite fillings are non-metallic, so they are not thermal conductors which means less hot and cold sensitivity.
